UNCLAIMED SUPERANNUATION




The ATO is getting in touch with 80,000 individual taxpayers to inform them the ATO is holding unclaimed superannuation on their behalf. The total amount of unclaimed super is $3.75 billion as at 30 June 2017. They will be communicating with taxpayers by email and SMS.

SELLING AN INVESTMENT PROPERTY? CHECK YOUR COST BASE!



When selling an investment property it is important to know the full cost base of the asset.


The cost base can include the purchase price and costs associated with acquiring, holding and disposing of the property, such as legal fees, stamp duty and real estate agent’s commissions.


Amounts that you've already claimed as a tax deduction are excluded from the property’s cost base.

ARE YOU SINGLE TOUCH PAYROLL READY?



Single Touch Payroll is a reporting change commencing on 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees.


You will report payments such as salaries and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation contributions from your payroll software each time you pay your employees.


Single Touch Payroll will be expanded to include employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019. This is subject to legislation being passed in parliament.
